Any ideas for building a good adjustable work bench? I want to be able to pluck the strings underneath, and have it adjustable for any size of steel.

I think it would be good to have the work bench that could be raised up and down so it could be set at the height that is comfortable.
Some Cycle shops, Lawn Mower repair shops have some neat ones. I seen a couple in Harbor Freight that are hydraulic hand pump raised that caught my eye for my next work bench build.
Comfort is everything when working on something complicated and precise. And being able to raise it where you can see in the changer and bell cranks without being humped over and back hurting would be great. Just a thought from a man with a kinky back.

I like the hydraulic table idea. In the past its always been the kitchen island and a towel. I built a jig like Bob suggests to fit MCI D10s. The tricky part for me is the keyhead end. I am going to redo mine to make getting to the tuners on the keyhead easier. Also make it a bit taller so the there is a good 6 inches or so between the table top and the strings. And add some kind of padded wood lock down device to keep the guitar stable while sitting upside down on the jig. Do the tables have locking casters and or screw jacks? so that you can not only level the table but make it very stable?

Great idea. Thanks for posting.

Wanted to share how it went. I used Bob's template, but added a few things. The two back supports on the keyhead side are individually adjustable, so I should be able to get them in just the right spot for S10s or other body styles. Should work well for keyless steels too. I tried it out with my Franklin D10 and it feels very stable. Thanks for the ideas!

I always thought it would be cool to have a device that clamps onto each end, and pivots and locks in place. It might have to have a counterbalance in place, but that way you could have it in a playing/picking position, then easily pivot upside down for more adjustments. Although when I write that out, I realize that you'd have to leave plenty of clearance for inserting and tuning pull rods, otherwise it wouldn't be all that useful!
