very sad news I was not expecting.

love every note I heard him play.

in addition to the Nashville community, this is a huge loss for fans of the band Ween who Stu toured and recorded with in the late 90s. he's a legend among the Ween fanbase and rightfully so.

one of the absolute best. God bless you Stu

One of the greats and a very funny man! I remember Stu playing "Curtain Call" on a black Emmons on the Porter Wagoner Show. Here's Stu on a Lonnie Mack cut:

Stu meant and still means so much to me as a person and steel player.
Stu welcomed me into the Nashville fold so many years ago. So gracious, sincere and genuine! Stu was one of my first sub calls for any TNN television show I did in that era.
Stu played so good behind any artist he was hired by.
God bless Stu Basore and his family. Rest In Peace my dear friend. You will always be remembered as one of the best in pedal steel guitar!

I remember watching Stu on the late 70's on the Porter Wagoner Show. Such a talented musician, who has been called to play in the Angel's Band at God's throne.
I remember seeing Stu do the videos with Jim Vest and Tommy White, and the late Don Helms. It was so cool to see that many years of talent on one set.
RIP Stu

I'm honored to have met Stu and have heard him play many times. One of my favorites was him and the late Boogie Sherrard doing Jammin' With Jimmy.

I'm saddened by his illness and passing. Peace and comfort to the family. Stu left his mark here, will always be appreciated and never forgotten.

Sad news about Stu. I really liked his playing.
One of my favourite older L.P's was "Lonesome Sad And Blue" by Kitty Wells with Stu on steel.
Some tracks are on YouTube. Worth a listen as it displays Stu's stylised playing.

First time meeting and hearing Stu was in the mid 70's. He was playing in the house band at Holiday Inn on Trinity Lane. He was playing "My Window Faces The South". We've been friends and I've loved his playing ever since. RIP Stu!
