Steel gear rentals in Austin, Tx?

Post by Dave Zirbel »

I may have some shows in Austin this October. Are there places in town that rent steel amps and possibly steel guitars? I would appreciate some references.

Thanks, Dave Z
[This message was edited by Dave Zirbel on 04 August 2005 at 08:37 AM.]

Dave,

You are welcome to use my Kline, I think it will fit. Amps are not a problem either. I tried to do the same in Milwaukee, a few months ago, but did not get any help. If it is the weekend, I may not catch your show, but gear is not a problem. Email me.

Thanks for the replies guys. Any good steel amp will do. A NV112 would be great because of the weight and it's what I'm used to. Any good S-10 3 x 4 would get me through. I'm trying to put together a rig that's under 50 pounds to fly with because even if I found a rental steel it may be too different than what I'm used to, so we'll see.

Thanks again, Dave Z

But drop in at Heart o' Texas anyway. They have some vintage amps, and Ray Hennig's got lots of stories.

I am facing the same problem; seems like any good airtravel case is going to raise the weight of a S 10 or 12 over 50 lbs. I have thought about putting the legs and anything else I can in another case. There must be a ton of experience with flying this stuff out there. What are folks' experience--better yet--any advice? I am even thinking about shipping ahead with UPS or FEDEX. IF this should be a separate thread, SYSOP, feel free.
