Williams 600 Series D10

Post by Mikiya Matsuda »

I am the original owner of this beautiful Williams steel. It plays and sounds great. I only wish I had more opportunities to use it. Nearly all my gigs are on non-pedal these days, so it's time to find a more deserving home for the guitar.

Please note, there are a few cosmetic imperfections where the finish has separated from the guitar as well as light scratches on the endplates. I've included close up photos of these "problem" areas and have priced the guitar accordingly.

I purchased the guitar in early January of 2007, so I imagine it was built in 2006.

It is a beautiful guitar the flaw in the the top in front of the E9 neck in the picture it looks like it goes into the wood. is it just in the finish or deeper?
The wood looks almost like it has a small dip going into the crack or is it just the way the light is on it?

Hi Barry,

The flaw is only in the finish. Fortunately, the wood below is totally undamaged. I'll try to take a better closeup photo for you where there is less glare.

Here are two more photos of the area with the flaw in the finish (a small area where the finish peeled off and the wood of the guitar is exposed). Hopefully it's clear from this side shot that the top plate of the cabinet is entirely flat.

Mikiya you have a Beautiful guitar and I wish you luck selling it. Its going to be a little out of my price range and shipping cross country will be quite a bit. I don't play C6 ether but I wish you luck in selling it.

The finish on my 2006 Williams did the same thing and Bill refinished my guitar for a very reasonable price a few years ago and it still looks like new.
Cops aren't paid much so I steel at night.

Hi, Mikiya,
Nice steel. Are the screws of the bottom of plate at the changer area for split tuning?

Maybe it is my eyesight but I don't see an major imperfections in the wood.

I don't see any split tuning screws. When I had my Williams 600, the splits were done with the extra rod. I think (but not sure) that you could get the split screws in the changer housing. The screws you see on the endplate under the nylon tuners are spring adjustment screws.

Steel guitar reply

Post by Steven Black »

This Williams does not have splits, but could be added, those set screws are the changer return springs tension adjustments, this guitar is beautiful, I would get it, but I have not received my funds yet from my investments, I would pay $2,400.00 for it.

Steven,
I don't think it is appropriate and in fact I think it is rude to say publicly what you think someone else's guitar is worth. That should be a private conversation between you and the seller.

Beautiful Williams

Post by William Morgan III »

YES, FOR SURE, It certainly is a beautiful guitar and Williams guitars play so smooth with a great knee and pedal action. Excellent tone also. I've had 2 400s and one 700 and they were great. Williams attention to detail is also perfect. BUT, If you're seriously looking at this you already know this is a great guitar. Good luck with your sale. Someone is going to be very happy. (P.S. I don't usually post but this guitar just really caught my fancy).
