New Jersey steelers

Post by Chris Tarrow »

Just want to see who's around in NJ and if anybody's interested in getting together to trade licks and/or find out where people are playing out.

I'm in Maplewood, novice steel player, but have played guitar in pro situations for many years. Be great to connect. Cheers!

Hi Chris. I guess the weather is keeping N.J. guys busy. There are several players in NJ and when they come in out of the snow they'll post here.
I'm live in Hillsborough NJ but we've been in Nashville for a few days. We'll be home on Friday and I will be playing some mostly traditional country music at "Arties" on Rt. 12 in Frenchtown NJ on Sunday Jan. 21st at 4:00pm.

I play lap steel only, but I also lead the band, which is kind of fun and definitely steel-centric.

We play at Barbes in Brooklyn on Jan. 25.

This might be a good time to get a feel for whether or not NJ PSG players are up for a regularly scheduled gathering. (quarterly/semi-annually, etc...)
I got the place - (a Church community hall in Nutley, NJ) - just need to know what kind of interest there is out there. I should add that no alcohol is allowed on the premises so keep that in mind.
Sho~Bud Super Pro, Fender Concert, NV400, Orange, (LP's, Tele's, Gretsch, Burns, etc...)

I met a guy from New Jersey at the Dallas show this year, he was wearing a Steal Your Face shirt, and we talked in the hall for a few minutes by the Mullen room.
He said he was from NJ and was there with a Steel playing friend named Steve.
I would like to connect with these Steel playin' Jersey Deadheads if possible. :)
Anyone know 'em???

Beginner to intermediate Steel player and experienced guitarist from Bergen County. Saw this thread and just wanted to say hello.

Rededicating my efforts in learning PSG. Have a lesson next week with a great PSG player named Fooch Fischetti from upstate NY.

Although I lived in Queens, I played the Jersey circuit regularly. Played steel for 3 Fingers Whiskey,Doc Holliday & others. I was one of the few musicians that did the "crossover" (Lived in NYC; played Jersey, & vice-versa) Couldn't do that nowadays, not with the prices they charge for tolls in & out of NYC.
A couple D-10s,some vintage guitars & amps, & lotsa junk in the gig bag.
