Well, I have been playing E9 for about 5 years now and I have a Fender D-8 that I have been playing the C6 neck for about 3 years. I figured it was time to upgrade to a D-10 pedal guitar. I purchased this Sho~Bud from Jeff Surratt/Duane Marrs in Madison, TN. My Pro1 S-10 Sho~Bud played nice, but this guitar is Smoooooooooth! Check it out!

Joey,
It is the original Sho~Bud pickups, but they sent them out to be rewound. The guitar sounds AMAZING! In my Pro1 I have the Bill Lawrence pickup in it, and I think just from one night of playing this guitar that I prefer the rewound Sho~Bud pickups over the Lawrence.

| Mark, what a beauty. The sunburst paint job is a little unique on a Sho-Bud, and looks spectacular. Do you know if it started that way? Yours is actually a Pro-II Custom, which started around 1975, and yours is probably from the late '70s, judging from the changer and pedals. Does it still have the original undercarriage, or does it have one of the Marrs new undercarriages? |

David,
It has the new Marrs changer and a brand new under carriage. Jeff Surratt basically rebuilt the ENTIRE guitar for me; Pedal Rack, Changer, Under Carriage, pickups, new endplates and legs.
I am not sure if it started out as a Sunbusrt finish or not. I know that ShoBud did make a handful of guitars in Sunburst so it could be possible.

Man, they don't get any better than the Marrs Retrofits.
I've been balls to the wall working days, and playing steady weekends with mine. Otherwise I'd be singing praises of it on here every day.
I've made enough to pay for it in a half a year playing it and have destroyed two bands with it.
I'll be posting "6 Months on Marrs" here in a week.
I've found it to be the best sounding, smoothest playing guitar I've ever tried.
Last week I was able to call Duane and thank him again, noting that I'd be posting about it.
I have done a few custom mods, and found a few things that might be viewed as suggestions.
The mainstays of these guitars are the ahgle front "no cabinet drop" piece, and the rock solid changer.
What we're looking at is what a REAL Sho~Bud would have been had the "factory" remained in the hands of True Craftsmen. SUrpassed by no other, space age, compensated, or otherwise..
I understand that Duane, bless his heart, has given Jeff, a RAISE and soon, a NEW FACTORY.
You made the right choice my friend, as have Herb, Bruce, Lloyd, Tommy, Pete B, Myself, and MANY others.

Nice guitar Mark  This looks like the
sunburst Duane had on the web in April-May
of this year, back when I was looking. It made my list because that burst was just
so sweet! I went with another Bud, but I
thought it would go fast. Congratulations

Tim,
That old tube amp behind it with the maroon sash is a "Wabash Deluxe" accordian amp. It is the SWEETEST sounding tube amp I have heard! The only problem is it is a single 12" spkr so the C6 neck distorts it real quick.
I like to use it with my Fender D-8 that I have sitting there.

I just picked up my Marrs/Sarratt sho bud rebuild on Friday. i've been playing it all night. What a tone. It's basically a Sho Bud professional with metal necks.It's got Jerry wallace rewounds on it that are mighty quiet. I can't wait to try it in the studio.
