Wow.. It worked.. Still didn't do it right as I didn't get all pics in one reply.. Anyway.. It looks better in photos than it does in person.. Undercarriage set up, additional pulls and fourth pedal done by me...
Bill had NO pedal brackets to match the originals. It is a VERY early Williams.. serial # 27. I would have had to do some fancy drilling and tapping with TINY screws[that I couldn't find] so I had the different bracket tig welded on in four tiny spots.. CLEAN as a whistle and easily removed if ever needed... The copedent is thusly... Pedals 123=Emmons
Pedal 4.. Lower BOTH G# a FULL tone [yay]
RKR= E's down i/2
RKL= E's up 1/2
LkR= 2nd string=E to Eb to D]with half stop on string 9
LkL= string 1 up full tone to G# and string 5 B to Bb
Pretty weird right?.. This guitar has a BEAUTIFUL "vintage
sound.. It really plays and sounds more like a good "old" guitar as oppossed to a "modern" feel and sound.. TOTALLY different animal than the Carter!!!... She's a sweetheart! Refin may be next.. I'm thinkin' hard! bob

Yes b0b, It was sent to Bill last year for some setup work.
It WAS a C6 setup that Bill did the work on..
[no longer since I got my meat hooks on it], and Bill replaced the battered fretboard while he had it there... Bill has commented to me about recalling the exceptionally sweet tone of this particular guitar. He's right! bob |

Hey, that wasn't too bad. Here's my D-10 keyless Willy. My baby. Next time, it's keyless or nothing for me.
(Please disregard the ugly guy trying to play this wonderful guitar. Didn't have one of just the guitar by itself) (I'll have to get one)

Hey Bob,
It looks pretty good from the front, has a nice "retro vibe" and doesn't look like every other guitar out there. Unless it really bothers you, I'd think long and hard before I refinished it... I'm glad you like the sound and got it working well. Hope to see you again some time for a jam or a gig. Larry J. |

Yeah Larry, I've been thinkin the same thing.. It looks nice in pictures and in person from a few feet.. All the "ugliness" can only be seen by the player!.. I'm not sure yet if I really want to refinish it, but until I decide, I am REALLY enjoying this guitar..
It may have the sweetest sound out of ANY steel I've ever owned. Its hard to describe the tone, but its quite beautiful sounding... It is SO feather light to carry,that its unbelievable.. MUCH lighter than my Carter S 10!!....
I have not yet polished the end plates and I was considering buffing/polishing the pedal rack.. I don't like the brushed aluminum on the rack... It is quite a unique steel... hope to see you again before long.. maybe the Connecticut show!! bob |

Bob, was admiring the fine retro-neering job on the Willys, THEN I noticed the "back-drop" materials in one picture; Oh well, gotta be dis-stinked! UHH, I would wait a while, play her alot before going with a refin. If you have the time, look around the forum at other refins, esp. the sunbursts I've seen, --that would look good on the frt apron--leaving the ends dark--as orig., and if the wood has good grain figures out-front--all the better to go blond in the middle to match the f/board. Just a thought.
BTW, I always admire fussy people--but I call it tenacity. You have a lot Bob, use it well, but sensibly--you'll get there.
