Having just recently buying a "Bo-bro" from Bobbe's SGN, I am finding myself in the midst of a new learning curve.
To quote Forumite Jack Stoner (a wylie ol' Range Rat like me - ha-ha)"play dobro licks and not pedal steel licks or it will sound like ..."
I've forced myself to do just this and I'm finding there is major useful fallout from taking that advice. New single string runs, a slant here and there and a generally new found attention to what's happening on the fret board and not always whats going on with my feet and knees.
I'm loving this new direction and it's bringing previously unseen (by me) possibilities to my playing in general.
There's good advice in this forum even when not directly presented.
In the words of an old radar mentor of mine from years ago "READIN' IS GOOD STUFF..."

I use an original Match Bro, and get the best results by keeping the A and B Pedals down all the time.
Also pick close to the bridge.

Ricky, Thanks. I'll have to check out the unit at Bobbe's. We will go through Nashville on the way to the ISGC in St Louis.
But it's good advice. You have to think "Dobro" to really get the licks and sound. The C6th neck works good too. I use the high G (1st string) and strings 1,2,3,5,6,7 (key C) are the same interval as the popular Dobro G tuning.
