I am looking for for C6th copedents of various players. The usual heavy weights and others. Yes I looked at the "tunings" on the forum and tried several searches. If someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated. I know about what I want to add to my guitar but just looking for other ideas just to make sure. Thanks.

Pull up Herb Steiner's website. He uses a C6th setup very similiar to Buddy Emmons. That is the setup I have on my C6th neck.

BTW, Herb has some excellent C6th materials for sale.

On Curly Chalkers C6 set-up shown above,

pedal 10 lowered the first string ( E ) by a whole-tone to D rather than two tones to C.

Basilh, does that mean I am officially a geek? I've been striving for that for years

Drew, Thanks. I have always been intrigued by Jimmie's pedal 5. I think I've seen others use that pedal (Buddy Cage?). I've never been able to figure it out despite hours and hours of looking at it and retuning my guitar to those notes.

Larry, Drew, Ernie and others, how tricky is it to convert your basic three-pedal to C6 from E9? I don't have the guitar yet, and I'm sure I'll find out plenty when I get to experimenting with it.
Just curious.

Charlie, It would depend on the brand of steel. Most all pull guitars should be easy. Also, you didn't mention how many knee levers on the guitar.

I don't use LKV, LKR or P5 very much. I use LKL+P2 a lot for the A6th chord position.

Charlie-Just use pedals -5-6-7- on BE's tuning that Ernie posted.

You can get 90% of all the big band, jazz songs with it.

It is nice to have more pedals and 4 or 5 knee levers, but if you have to, these are your 3 main pedals.

BE's one pull each Knee lever setup, that Ernie posted, is about as ""Lean and Mean"" as you can get....al

The situation is: A ZB student, 3/1.
Not enough pedals to make the change.
Oh well, I'll be inventing a new tuning before long. IF I win the bid. 1 hour more.

Hey Bob,
From the topic 'something you don't see every day' (it's worth seeing, what a steel should look like, to me):

"Hmmm. Seems to have enough room on the players left to mount some Marimba Bars--a la b0b's new toy."
What a concept!

Drew; The changes that Chalker gave me for the LKV1 and LKV2 were:

2.C––––––––––––––
3.A––– Bb–––––Bb–
This was in early 1980.

John B, I too agree with those two verticals on Curly's guitar as I peeked under his Sho-Bud Crossover in '69 in Dallas. That was when it was a big secret what the two levers were and I have a similar setup on mine.
I might add when both up levers were activated, the movement on the E or 1st string were cancelled due to their opposing action. The made just a 7th chord. He used this basic setup for a lotta years. When you hear him, you would swear there were more changes but he just knew how to apply this to amaze the masses, including me.

Here’ the last Stup I used for C6th:

LKL–LKV–LKR–P5–P6–P7–P8–P9–RKL–RKR
_________C________________________
_________Eb_____F_________________
D___________________________B_____
B____B_____________Bb_____________
____________F#__________________G#
_________F______Eb________F_______
_______________________C#_________
_____B_____________Bb_____________
____________F#_________E__________
____________D__________A__________

If I ever use C6 again, this will be it again! But, I plan to eventually go to the C-Diatonic Setup, because; it’s my favorite~tuning!
