this EMCI is Arlington guitar, welded frame, no cabinet drop here, the best of the best, Terry Crisp and Buddy E were just two of the big guys that used EMCI guitars ....I have it set up in my house, and this is a true monster...

thank you my friend.... I think price is ok, those are wonderful guitars... I may actually keep EMCI, not sure yet...

I like EMCI's so much I have 3 of them. Two D-10's and a SD-12. Why would anyone want anything else? Carter is a fine guitar but the EMCI's were almost the summit of perfection. The EMCI changer leaves no provision for split tuners but hey,push pulls didn't have split tuning either. The adjustable and easily removeable cross shafts of the EMCI that don't screw down to the sound board that is trying to resonate makes it a clear winner in my book. I believe the more crap that is screwed to the top sound board dampens the sound more and more.

David, I have Carter and EMCI side by side, and they are virtually the same, with EMCI being about a notch better (or I should say "different") , there is a few lithe differences, but the general idea is same... great guitars, and there is really nothing left to be desired when it comes to those guitars... I personally don't care about splits and other fancy stuff, I figured as soon as I play and sound like Lloyd Green I can start adding more to my guitars until then I'm good with 3+4 .... of course, that'll never happened, so EMCI is everything I'll ever need...

I agree Damir. We can thank Bud Carter for 90 percent of the EMCI but in the end it had 3 of the greatest minds in steel guitar building there ever was. I changed out the Keyhead and pedal board on one of my EMCI's with the newer compact Carter keyheads and gauged roller nuts and Carter polished pedal board. Got the best of both worlds!

Carter is one of the best ever built. I have a Carter 4 raise/2 lower 12 string changer here with the matching Carter endplates my old friend Junior Knight gave me and I'm gonna build me a U-12.
I really don't know why Carter's sell so cheap and Sho-Buds go for big bucks. Doesn't make any sense to me. I guess that's Lloyd's impact on Sho-Bud's. When they are recorded you can't tell any difference. That's Lloyd's hands and ears making that beautiful tone. I'm sure Lloyd likes the feel of Sho-Bud's because he spent his whole career playing one. Kinda like trying to learn new software. Sometimes it's not worth the trouble.

Milo and Wayne can make anything sound great but these two guys make their living playing constantly and they would not drive around with mechanical junk. Anything Bud Carter had anything to do with is a superior product beginning with MSA.

characteristics of all of the guitars Bud was involved with were smooth and super quick action, and rock solid positive stops, very simple and user friendly mechanism, easy to work on... I think the only guitar that looks simpler then Bud's guitars would be GFI, and that is one of the reasons I love GFI, very very simple, and easy to work on... GFI and just about any of Bud's guitars are prefect road guitars for working musicians... that is probably one of the reasons EMCI were so popular with road guys, and big names, smooth operation, tone and simplicity , thats the winning formula, and Bud understood that ... and another thing I love about those guitars is how compact they are ...

Bob, I got this one on trade from another forum member, and he took this guitar apart, cleaned and serviced it, it plays, and looks amazing... and the tone is unbelievable...

The pickups on the Carter are GL E66s. And, it plays good and sounds good. Would like to have kept it but Damir had something I wanted more.

Let's say it came out of the case quick and went back in the same way.

I remember that guitar having a sound like no other. Some of it was Bobbe, but not all.
