Topic: Where to start with Jules' E13 |

I've got C6 and B11 on my triple neck, and I have a modest comfort level with each of them, the former more than the latter. I took my last neck and tuned it to what John Ely has as Jules Ah See's E13: E C# G# F# D B G# E. Just noodling around with those big, expansive chords...its fun/exotic...but I'm lost. With B11, I had to actually try to learn some songs in that tuning (Sand, How'd You Do) to start getting my bearings.
Does anyone have any recommended tabs or songs that I could work on in this tuning? With the idea of getting a little more comfortable with it before trying to improvise and wander around unguided... Not sure if it was a more common E13 or just his own particular version. Per John Ely's site, it looks like Barney Isaacs may have used this tuning too... |

This tuning was used by Noel Boggs, too. If you are looking for somewhere to get started, try Noel's version of Coquette, which is a very simple tune to play.

I'll look into Noel Boggs...I'm relatively ignorant of the Western swing stuff but interested and eager to learn.
Just tuned my 6 string lap into E13 and will try to force myself to keep it there a while (I end up doing more practicing casually down in the living areas with that guitar than with my Stringmaster). |
