Roy is a tremendous guitar player. He used to do funny routines in his act. First time I saw him was on Shindig or Hootenenny. He played Wildwood Flower with the most hilarious mistakes! _________________ Dr. Z Surgical Steel amp, amazing!

What a great idea. Using mic stands was also very original. _________________ Fender Kingman, Sierra Crown D-10, Evans Amplifier, Soup Cube. |

A group I played in back 30 some years ago our Lead player, used a empty beer bottle. Did it on a few songs. Did a hell of a job too. |

Beer bottles also work on steel.
But, make sure you've drunk them empty first..... |

Roy is a GREAT entertainer. I was lucky enough to take a 7 p.m. date home by 8:30 so I could go see Roy when his singing career was still new. One of the best I ever saw. I drank beer with him and in between sets, at 18 yrs old, and had one of the best times of my life. On stage he said he was going to damage a young guitar picker for life, then went in to 12th street rag, then into triple time and did the windmill and reverse windmill. I spent 2 hrs trying to pick my jaw back up _________________ "like an old stallion, lonely for freedom, still trying to out run the wind" Seals,Setser,& Davey.

Not original?
Maybe I need to get out more often but I've never seen anyone use a drinking glass slide before. Beer bottles, knife handles, metal folding chairs --- yeah, done me some o dat.
And by the way Roy's playing was darn near pitch perfect with that glass, and the machine gun thing was in perfect time. The whole act was classic country cornball and it's still funny. |

Many have used improvised slides down through the years long before Roy. Sorry, but I found nothing special here.. |

You're a tough audience, Barry. Maybe if he was hanging off the edge of a 30 story building while he was doing it? |

If anyone could do anything with a guitar, Roy could do it. Probably to playing it with his toes, I know he used his nose. I got to drink with him and talked thru each break from his sets in show. As he once said " All his money went to keeping his parties alive and well, cuz he would hate to awake one morning with someone telling him he should have been there last nite" _________________ "like an old stallion, lonely for freedom, still trying to out run the wind" Seals,Setser,& Davey.
