Not that doing Drywall is a bad thing... My Son-in-law does Drywall... But a guy like Randy with his INCREDIBLE musical talent, should only be doing Drywall, if he just has a passion for it... One of my favorite players!!! |
Dale, I'm just a Pool Man but yes, Randy is one of the best!

Mant thanks folks! I'm still hanging there, just getting old and grey. I haven't touched the drywall tools in a while. Honestly I don't have the back for it anymore.
I've been working for Joe Diffie since the first of June 2016. It's been nice setting behind the guitar again. Even at my age I appreciate the life of a musician. I describe it like going on a camping trip with a group of friends. Eat too much junk food, stay up too late, and get to act like a teenager again, then take the week to recover and do it all again next weekend. We mostly just work weekends and are home most of the week. It's a good group of guys that are like a second family.
If you see we are going to be in your area come on out and we'll talk steel guitar! |

Thanks for checking in. I have fond memories of you in the Zum room in St, Louis back in the glory days!
Let me know if you run into a D-10 Zum, also?
thx

There's nothing wrong with drywall except we shouldn't need it to make a living as a steel guitarist. |

Yep, got to see Randy with Joe Diffie at Billy Bob's several months ago. Like most bands with a steel guitar, the steel wasn't turned up loud enough for my taste. But can you blame me for wanting to hear every note Randy plays? Anyway, he was so gracious to me and my wife, I can't thank him enough! Here's hoping he gets back in the Dallas Show rotation soon (are you reading this, Albert?). |

First time I heard Randy was the very first Texas Steel guitar show held at the Shriners building in Mesquite Texas around mid 80's. He played Beaumont rag and Westphilia waltz and just blew me away. _________________ Henry Matthews

Hey Henry,,,I remember that show,,,wasn't that just across the bridge? I remember VERY young Steve Palousec, Zane King and Blake Fougarousse (?) running around, seemingly totally unaware of the talent shared between them,,,LOL. Jimmy Day "insisted" that Charlie put,, me ,,,(a nobody,,,except a friend of Jimmy's) up in a room over at the Hershey. Nice room,,,LOL |

Yes Sonny, just across bridge of Ray Hubbard for you from your direction. That was first steel show I ever went to and I had just started playing steel. That's also the first time I saw Buddy Emmons and I was just in awe of all the players there. It was almost more than my mind could handle. Randy's rendition of Beaumont rag was out of this world. I'd never heard playing like those guys before. Almost totally quit steel that weekend, lol, after hearing those guys. _________________ Henry Matthews
