This is my old guitar. I had it about 8 months ago and sold it to another forumite. In the time I had it, I took it completely apart and used the Jim Sliff Cleaning Method and got it right up to snuff. It is even more beautiful than the pictures look. I wish I could have held onto it but I wanted to move on to a D10. Good luck!

By the way - this looks like a long scale to me with a roller bridge. The brown tolex cases would put it in the 61 - 62 range I believe. It also does not have the mutes which were added in 1963. Do you know what year the guitar was made Damir?

Bridges

Post by C Dixon »

Damir,

Could you make a photo with the bridge covers removed, so we can see how the strings go over the bridges; or whether they are connected to the bridge itself.

The "sunburst" coloring was used on the later 400's and 1000's; before they went to the 10 stringers; 800's and 2,000's; which had black cast pedals. I prefer the ones on this model.

My first pedal steel guitar was a very early 400 with the ash color body with 6 pedals. Sure wish I still had it.
Your guitar is in GREAT condition. I am sure someone will grab this one in short time.

Guess who the guy is in the following picture? Give you a clue; it was taken 65 yrs ago.

Well, I'm not Damir, but I bought this guitar from Andrew (who did a beautiful job of making everything like new on it again!), and I can tell you the answer. The strings go over roller bridges, and connect to those little wire hooks that connect to the changer pulls. It's the earlier, longer scale 1000. Really nice guitar that I had planned to keep, but Damir had something I wanted and there's only so much room in my house for guitars....

Thank you David,

I thought that to be the case. Just wanting to make sure.

I really like this guitar. I am thinking about buying it.

Must be a transitional model as it has the black aluminium/magnesium frame and it's sunburst..
