Leland Darst

Post by Dan Galysh »

It is with great regret that I let everyone know that one of my dearest friends in life, Leland Darst, has passed away. Leland was a Columbus, Ohio area steeler that played for Mel Street, Billy Crash Craddock and others in the '70s. He had a humble heart. He will be missed.

Dan very sorry for your loss.Yes he was a unique individual, spent some time in bands and the studio with Leland. Came up with unique commecial lines to fit songs in the studio with ease. Also a
one-liner type of dry humor.

Dan, can you give any details? I knew Leland from our mutual friendship with Ralph Mooney. Leland came to Texas to visit a few times and he also came to some of the shows we played around the country. This is a shocker to me. I think he was younger than I although age doesn't matter when our time is up. RIP. Leland.

Fred, from what I gathered, Leland apparently suffered from a fall. He was having serious pulmonary issues in the last few years.
I spoke to his son on Sunday the 1st. Although an autopsy wasn't performed, heart failure was suspected.
