I just got an old (late 70's or early 80's) Peavey Special. I've looked at Peavey's web site for a manual for it but no luck. Is a manual available in case I've been looking in the wrong place. It isn't the 2x12 model, it only has one 12.

Thanks Larry, I must have been looking in the wrong sites. The ones that were showing up were the 2x12's. I was able to print it out just fine. I haven't tried it on my steel but it sounded great with my Jazzmaster.

| George, glad you got it. Jazzmaster sounds good, hey you're my kind of player. I have a special 130 I have used with pedal steel and telecaster on small jobs and it did fine for both. Good luck. |

Hi guys,
I was very lucky to get a 112 Special in South Africa. It was built in the USA so it is very solid and sturdy and it still looks very good.
It was built for our power grid 220V and 50 hertz.
This amp has powder (sic) plenty.
It has only one vice, when I put if off, there is a loud snap sound, why is that?
Please help.
Let the games begin!

I took it to the repairman and he found two bad solder spots on capacitors.
Cost me R20.
All systems firing on all cylinders. In future I would change this to batteries.
Anyway blokes, this is a really nice versatile amp. I wonder why Peavey stopped making them.

They most likely stopped making them to make room for new lines. They can't necessarily keep making older models, especially if sales drop. They need the space and manpower to make these new products, and compete with other brands.

Every Peavey I have owned (5 of them) has had a pop when turning the amp on and off (the Peavey "pop"). Don't know why, but that subject has come up before with some explanations. It's nothing to worry about. Just turn your volume down when turning the amp on and off.

| The "pop" when you power up a Peavey solid state amp does not necessarily mean that there is anything wrong with it. When I checked amplifiers out on the production line many moons ago, the amp was rejected for a pop only if the speaker moved when the pop occurred. All of my personal Peavey amps have had a certain extent of "pop", but I have not had any problems with this. Now, if the speaker moves, then yes some corrections can be made by a technician. |

Here is a picture of my two brothers together. No problems here now.
