I've got some old Dekley Pickups that need to be rewound. Does anyone have any suggestions for someone who does this?
Thanks,
Leo |

He's good , very reasonably priced, and fast..
He has rewound several old pickups for me, including pedal steel pickups, and they were all great.... bob _________________ I'm over the hill and hittin'rocks on the way down!

As far as I know, Jerry Wallace is still doing rewinds. He rewound one of my Sho-Bud pickups, and I'm very happy with the result.

I also rewind. Worked at Gibson and ShoBud and can rewind to your likes. Luthier for 40 years. Looks like I'm not real close though. RP _________________ Emmons SKH Le Grande, '73 Fender P/J bass, Tick tack bass, Regal high strung, USA Nashville 112. |

A freind of mine who'd worked at Lindy Fralin told me that Lindy would've sent the P-90 type pups in my National to Tom Brantley. I wound up not needing them rewound but, when I talked to Tom he said he rewound stuff like that all the time. |

Tom Brantley does great work and is a super-honest guy to boot. He did the pickups on an old Vega I had and had it sounding sweet! _________________ Lots of stringy things, many of them slidey. |

My favorite guy for anything relating to pickups is Dan Bjorke. Affordable and reliable.

Thanks for all the input everyone. I contacted Jerry Wallace and he informed me that do to his health he has had to cut back on his work. He only rewinds Emmons and Sho Bud pickups now.
The last I heard from Bob Hoffnar he said he no longer makes or rewinds pickups. That was about a year ago exactly. Correct me if that his changed since.
It looks like there are a few other reliable people to choose from. I will definitely inquire. |

If Jerry Sentell's rewinds are as impressive as the custom pickups he fabricates (and I have no reason to believe they are not), it's a no-brainer to me.
I have ordered three custom lap steel pickups from Sentell: two P-90s with 58mm string spacing, and a humbucker with 58mm spacing. The P-90s sound better than the Gibson originals, and the humbucker sounds fantastic.
I have projects in the works that will require three and possibly four custom pickups. Guess who I'm gonna call? |

I just had Jerry Wallace rewind 2 Sho Bud pickups. He does great work. His Truetone pickups sound fantastic too. He told me when I ordered the work that he's only rewinding Sho Bud and Emmons pickups at this time as he's super busy building new. He rewinds the Emmons and Sho Buds because they're so similar in design to his new pickups. |
