When I Call Your Name (Cover)

Post by Niklas Lazukic »

Hey ya'll! :D

This is my first post here so I thought I'd introduce myself a little bit too.
My name is Niklas and I'm 24 years old. I have been playing music since 2009.
I was in a band 2010 playing keyboards (which was my main instrument).
After touring with my band to 2013 playing country/blues covers, my interest for playing guitar evolved..

I bought myself a telecaster and started practicing on those country chops.
I started to listen alot to Brad Paisley, Vince Gill and Alan Jackson and heard this instrument that just fitted the songs like a glove. It was the pedal steel guitar, and I had no idea what it was or how it worked. I did my research on the instrument but I didn't have the money to get one at the time.

November 2016 I came across a GFI Ultra by accident and I've always wanted to learn how to play the steel guitar.. I had saved up money to get one and I bought the instrument and started practicing.. Now I'm totally hooked and I use it in my productions. My best investment in a looong time.
To sum this up I'm glad to call myself a beginner of the pedal steel guitar and to be a part of this forum. :D

Here's my latest cover of Vince Gill's hitrecord - "When I Call Your Name".

Very nice job on all the instruments and vocal. My band does this song, too. It's one of my favorites.

Nic , good singers are everywhere but only a few have the voice people want to hear. You have that voice and the talent to go with it. Start writing your own stuff..

Let me get this right, you been playing pedal steel since 2016!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't know where to begin with praising your musical skills & talent, I can only say this, YOUR AWESOME

I'm a hardcore country music listener since 1957,and pedal steel player since 1975. I have never in all my time spent with either playing with bands or listing to them heard any singer perform Vince Gill's, "When I call Your Name" or any other of his great songs. Most of the bands I've ever heard will always play "The Fireman" by George Strait.

Keep up the amazing playing.

Niklas,

There's nothing to say except that you are doing fantastic with both your playing and singing. Your (or someone's) recording and video skills are top notch too. Keep up the good work.

Niklas, very nice. You are very talented. The video was very professionally produced. Does this kind of country music sell in Sweden?

Thanks a bunch guys!! I really, really appreciate it! :)
If you have any tips regarding the steelguitar solo and/or have any licks that I must learn, please go ahead and link them.
I just go by ear and play what feels right at the moment but my variety of steelguitar licks isn't that big so I could use more. I listen alot to what Paul Franklin is playing but man.. That's hard to keep up with, haha!

Yeah, I produce both the music and video. I'm kinda geeky when it comes to producing and editing but it's really fun. My kind of therapy!
Well.. I guess everyone likes countrymusic here more or less.
It is a growing musicgenre here in Sweden but it's bigger in Norway so I do some gigs over there. :) :)

OK, where is it written that a 24 year old could have this much talent.

Not fair.

Great job on all instruments and vocal.

whatever you do, don't come to Nashville, you are too good , to make it big here you can not have a talent (as a singer) , and you can not love country music.... and you are both
