Hi Gang,
On a lark, I picked up a cd of his and I really like his style and tone. Does anyone know what make guitar he plays on? Here is a link:

He plays a guitar which he designed and made for himself. He uses the C#m tuning. Bud suffered a heart attack and stroke at the same time a couple of years ago and has not played steel since that occurance. I spoke with him last February and he was in very good spirits, can do many things now, but was still unable to play the steel. If you have the album, "TO YOU, SWEETHEART. ALOHA", (as shown), I was involved. I played many of the bass tracs on that album which was recorded in a Waikiki studio and overdubbed in Seattle. It's a beautiful album and features Hawai'i's beautiful song bird, Nina Kealiiwahamana, (formerly of "Hawai'i Calls).

I spoke to Bud Tutmarc on the phone today and he told me he is going to do a gig this friday night. Yes! He said his thumb and first two fingers on both hands are numb but he can hold the bar and play slow stuff. He is in great spirits and he ain't done yet.
"To You, Sweetheart, Aloha" is so beautiful. I love his sound.
