D2F Covers

I heard today that D2F Covers is closing their doors. They might be sold to new owners but nothing is known right now. They made great steel guitar covers and great legbags as well as great amplifier covers. Tom Palmer offered fantastic customer service and is a wonderful guy. I was very sorry to hear this as they were a quality company making several great products, serving the steel guitar community. Maybe this should be in the obit section.

Hey Bob. So sorry to read this. There were hopes and (sort of ) indications that they would continue but I guess they were just fulfilling orders. How unfortunate.

I like and use their products; it was a good company and I like that they catered to steel players and made quality products that we use. I bought alot of leg bags and amp covers from them. It's too bad they shut it down. Maybe someone will take over and keep it going. It's hard to believe they can't make a go of it because their products are so good. They only thing I can make of it was that they probably raised their prices too much and consequently had fewer and fewer orders.

I have a lot of D2F covers, including a custom speaker cover that I got about 2 weeks before Tom's passing.

I also have a "Tuki" cover and it is made from what appears to be the same padded material that D2F used.

I'm just rereading your post above, Bob, and it's possible that you might not be aware the Tom died around 6-7 weeks ago. So that's what this is about. I, too, have a couple of bags & covers. Good stuff. We'll just have to watch and see if they can transition into a post-Tom D2F.

I contacted Tuki Covers to order a cover for my Gibson Console Grande
triple neck. Glen Wodnicki is the president of the company. He said Tuki
will be "more than happy" to manufacture steel guitar covers. It will be a
new product line for them.
Tuki's pricing is in-line with D2F's. We are clarifying the details now and
I'll be ordering soon.

From reading elsewhere it appears that they are closed down as of 2 days ago. Go to the "Pedal Steel" section, there is a thread working there on this. Yesterday, the following was posted by Joey Ace:

That's completely consistent with what Franklin Palmer told me this week.

I didn't know that Tom Palmer had passed away; I'm very sorry to hear that. He was a wonderful guy and we had a connection beyond the normal customer relationship. He will be missed greatly. My condolences to his family. I hope this company can continue but also I'm glad to hear that Tuki is willing to service the steel community with products we need and use all the time.

I ordered a cover for my Emmons D-10 PP. Just got in the mail this morning

Such a well made cover. Very sad turn of events.
