Pedal Dobro S9 with 6+6

Post by Thiel Hatt »

I have had this one on the Forum previously but withdrew the the entry because I decided to keep it. I have enjoyed the instrument and found it difficult to let it go, but have come to the decision to put it on the market again. Here is a description of it:
1. The changer is an EMCI and is a triple raise/ triple lower all pull system. So naturally the string spacing is the same as the standard pedal steel. It is modified to accomodate nine strings. The changer is located on the left end of the instrument. This was done to allow room to accomodate the full depth of the sound chamber without interfering with the under-carriage. Thus the string spacing is the same at both the nut and bridge.
2. The pull fingers on the cross rods are from Fessenden.
3. The pickup is a Fishman which attaches to the bottom of the resonator cone.
4. The tunners are the simple keyless type, located on the right end of the guitar.
5. The copedent is D9th with the two chromatic strings on top like the standard E9th. I have is set up as a universal tuning so with the D's lowered is becomes an A6th. Three of the pedals are for the D9th mode and three for the A6th. It has six knee levers. (Two verticles, one of which is located to work with the A6th mode)
6.The tonal quality is as good as any Dobro I have compared it to
7. The pedal action is smooth and positive
8.Stays in tune very well and is very stable
9. It has a device to lock the D lowers for the A6th mode
I am asking $ 1900.00 for the instrument and it comes with a case.

The instrument has sold, pending payment. Forum donation will be sent following payment. It is rather emotional to see it ge, but it'll be in good hands.

That is a wonderful design and the workmanship very nice indeed.
While wondering if I really needed another steel, I saw it had sold just that fast! No surprise there.

Think I may want to steal your steel idea and build one for myself now...
Started one a few years back, but the ex left it out in the rain sometime in the winter before the divorce was final and the time I got my house back. Oh well! :whoa:
Best regards,
Andy

Pedel Bro's are awesome - I am surprised that companies don't actively build these for the market.
