I recently discovered that one of my strings is hitting the pole piece on the pickup of my steel guitar. This only happens when I play above the 12th fret. It doesn't look like the pole pieces are adjustable so I am not sure how to fix this. The guiter is an old triple neck Magnatone. Any ideas would be great. I'm hoping to avoid having to find a repair person.

Chas,

I have thought about bar pressure too, so before I do anything I'll try to lighten up a bit. However I am applying the same pressure on the bar on the other two necks and the strings don't hit the pole pieces.

The wierd thing about these pole pieces is that there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to their height. Some are long some are short.

I'll go home and measure the string gauges too. I've been using some old strings and I am not totally positive of their actual gauges.
