I'm getting my Regal out of the case again. Was wondering about a tuning for blues, or will the open G cover that ok? Thanks, Will

There are certainly more proficient players than I, but here's my 2 cents......

The open G will cover a variety of styles including blues. Years ago I once took lessons from a trumpet player who played real hot swing on 6 string G tuned Dobro. The point there is that "it's in the hands". I've always been comfortable playing blues on the G tuning, however, if I were going to concentrate on mostly blues, I would use a D or an E tuning where the root note is on the top. "You can cover it in G, but get down & dirty in E"
