Here are two pics from last Saturday's gig with my band, the Country Buskers. Beautiful outdoor night. We had lots of listeners and also attracted all mosquitos from at least twenty miles around. :\

Recent picture of my band Mountain Smoke

Image

I would call this Mountain Smoke Version 8.0

1.0 started in 1973. I came to the band in 1976 at the beginning of 3.0 right after Vince Gill and David Coe (fiddle for Michael Martin Murphy) left. I left the band after 4.0 started and returned during 5.0 in 1983. In the current version, only three of us were part of the 1977 performance at the White House.

Image

I guess I could have said 37 years with the band instead of all the explaining.

Here is my band "Locoweed", pic taken about five years ago. This band originally toured the country in the late 70s and five out of six guys pictured here played back then! L-R: Rick Gerbeck (drums), Rodney Parker (vocals, no longer involved), Dave Cubbedge (pedal steel, guitar), Dave Athanas (lead guitar), Mike Malone (vocals, harp, guitar), Randy Monk (bass). We still play about a half-dozen shows a year, now as a five piece. Our original lead singer, Jon Lemerand, lives in SoCal. We play 70s Cali-Country; Eagles, Burritos, Poco, Pure Prairie League, etc....
Red Emmons D10 fatback #2246D with sweet Hugh Briley split cases, Black Emmons S10 #1466S, '73 Fender "Snakeskin" Twin Reverb, Peavey Nashville 400, Line 6 Pod XT, Fender 400, Fender Stringmaster Double-8, too many guitars, one bass!

My Dad and his band in the 50's. They did a Sunday night live radio show on WKBZ 1090 AM. Notice his steel, it's home made. It has water pipe for legs. Man we were poor back then.

Our band, Sandhill River Band, had a reunion over the weekend for a benefit for a young boy. Some of the band had not played in 20 years and the rest of us had not performed together for five years or longer. Turned out pretty good for a bunch of old musicians.

This is my old band picture from the front of our LP in the early or mid 70's. That's me, sitting in the middle, third from top right. If I remember correctly, it was recorded at Rome recording studios, Columbus, OH.

This is me playing with a group called Southern Sunday. The acoustic guitar player was not there because he was on his honeymoon. The nerve of some people... This was a jam in Panama City at a place called The Ghetto Palace. The owner is the touring manager for Crosby, Stills, & Nash. He lives upstairs and has this cool place downstairs that he opens up for jam sessions the first Tuesday of each month when he's not on tour with CSN.

Two Bands, 1975 & 2017

Post by Andy DePaule »

This was our band "Crazy Creek" in 1975. Willits, California.
Back then my waist was 10" less than now and more hair on top, Ha ha ha. :whoa:

Image

Our band in Saigon at the Dublin Gate Pub, Tai Van Luong Street;
Left to right, Me on Steel, USA, Thomas on Acoustic Guitar singing Johnny Cash with German accent! :? From Easy Germany, Hiep on Bass, Speaks no English, but great musician. Johnny Guitar on Lead Guitar, Top notch player, Greek/Turk born in Aleppo, Syria, but now from Australia, Like most Aussies he drops the "F" Bomb in ever sentence. Mike on Saxphone from Korea, Drinks a 5th of whisky every night and plays just like a guy who drinks a 5th every night!
Still a fun bunch of guys. We do C&W, Blues and old Rock & Roll. All very popular in Saigon.

Image

Time in country; Me 17 years in Saigon, Thomas 20 years in Viet Nam, Hiep, never has left Viet Nam except for a trip to Thailand. Johnny Guitar, aka Achmed Salame, 20 years playing in S.E. Asia & 8 years in Saigon. Mike 18 years in Saigon.

Saigon has so many small streets and not much parking. I live down an ally so narrow I can touch houses on both sides at the same time. This is how I get my steel to gigs. g[/img]
