I had my old Bolt-on (#2876) upside down last night checking some adjustments and noticed some writing stamped onto the wood on the underside of the C6 keyhead. The guitar has had the flocking removed by a previous owner and I have never paid any attention to these letters before,so I got my magnifying glass and had a look. It says.... BARBERA ANN MANDRELL
5** ** ***1
NORLIN
Can anyone help with the history of this guitar?

Interesting that they would misspell her name.
Ann is her middle name, according to several internet sources.

Is it a red lacquer steel? she used to play a red lacquer one. also there's an old picture of her and her steel in the Sho-Bud Book, the one with Jeff Newman on the cover playing on the GOO. [This message was edited by Gary Spaeth on 26 April 2005 at 07:38 AM.] |

Norlin was the parent company of Gibson, Epiphone, Maestro. I wonder if they sold her the steel as a distributor?
Hmmmm.....

According to an earlier post by Bobbe Seymour, there was a time during the '70 when "Norlin" was handling distribution of Emmons Guitars to dealers. This was a deal Ron Lashley Sr. set up with them. Also I understand that the Norlin years for Emmons Guitars were some of the best that were ever made.
