Yes, interesting and the D8 and D6 guitar in the same catalog have the newer logo. That style started appearing on the regular guitars around 67 (following the purchase of the company by CBS in 65)

It wouldn't be the first time that the Fender catalogue showed a guitar with the wrong features for that year.

I've posted this before. It was a mess when I got it on eBay several years ago and I decided to do a complete makeover, refinishing and hand engraving all the parts and re-plating. It's still somewhat of a work in progress as I am still working on a tweed case that will feature tooled leather ends, and possibly engraved buckles to close it with. I never could get the decal to go on without breaking, so I may replace the decal with an engraved plate or pierced nickel Fender logo.
