I have played several Emmons LeGrande's over the years, but have never played a Derby guitar. What's the biggest difference between the two guitars?? I know this has probably been discussed before, but would like some recent opinions.
Thanks,
Steve

I have a Derby and love it. As far as a comparison, it needs to be your comparison.Everybody is gonna have their opinion. Either guitar is a great choice. You couldn't be disappointed with the two.
If you ever met Charlie and played one of his guitars, you'd buy the Derby. Do a search for Derby and the same for LaGrande III. You should get everything that's been posted before (I'd go for the Derby; obviously, I own one).

well keep in mind that i'm a green-horn,but i had a derby d10 with E66 pickups,,i took it to a friend's house, danny mohamad in nashville,,dannys a great player and has a studio where i do all my orig demos,,and he has a legrand 3,not sure what pickups he has,,he played both guitars, and recorded each with same setup,eq ect.played the same parts ,the derby has smooth midrange with silky highs, sweet pretty sound,,,the legrand was a little more harsh, but still verry good,,he said the legrand would cut through a live mix a little better than the derby,,both were verry good ,,,depends on your taste,,,going to take my new old push pull ,sd10 tomorrow,,,i want to hear a great player playing on it,, my 2 cents from willie, the worst player in nashville,,but getting better,,,i hope,, |
