volute or no?

Does this one have the volute on the headstock?.....that's the little sculptured bump right between the the headstock and the keyboard, at the nut on the back of the neck. Could you post a picture of that area?

That's a beautiful ES-335. I see you have it listed on Reverb.com too and you've probably seen that the sales prices on these have been generally in the $4-4.5K range if all original in great condition. The only difference between a 1969 and 1970 is typically the volute on the back of the neck - it's too bad because it really doesn't make a difference, but collectors like the smooth neck better (it was regarded as part of an overall drop in quality in 1970s Norlin era Gibson guitars). Your guitar does have the advantage of the old oval orange label - a 1960s hold-over. You should highlight that fact. Also check the width at the nut. The desired pre-1965 nut width was 1-11/16". In early '65 through the late 60s and into the 70s the width was reduced by 1/8"to 1-9/16" - less popular with players and less valued. Some late 60s/early 70s guitars were made with a wider neck. If yours measures 1-10/16" to 1-11/16" at the nut, advertise it! Makes it more desirable to players and collectors. Good news is that all the ES-335 years are inching up so your price will eventually catch up with the guitar! Good luck with your sale.

LOL Allen! Checkoway checking in again! Just an odd point about the late 60s and 1970s guitars. Gibson made their necks thinner to emulate "faster" Fender necks ... and Fender started making heavier and heavier guitars (Strats went to heavier ash bodies with barely any sculpted relief) to achieve Les Paul weight (the myth that heavier=better tone and sustain). I guess the grass is always greener ...

Also have an original, near mint, Gibson case cover in black vinyl from the late 60's or early 70's Fits over a period correct case and adds a nice layer of extra protection. Never seen another like it.
I paid over $100.00 for it on eBay a while back. Thought it was a gig bag! Wrong, it was a case cover.
Will include with sale of guitar.
As far as a steel I am looking for a S-10 MSA Millenium or other newer MSA or Excel. I need a lighter steel for church work.
Prefer 4 pedals and 5 knees. Emmons setup with Franklin pedal on the 4th pedal position.
