I was wondering about using a block of foam rubber with cuts fitting over the pull rods to dampen undercarriage noises, which can be quite annoying when rehearsing together with just one acoustic guitar.

I'm sure a lot of you guys has done experiments with something like that, but what are your experiences related to how this would influence the tone and sustain of the psg?

I hope for a lot of expert viewpoints

My new Williams came with a block of foam rubber sliced to fit over the pull rods.

I had a Sierra Session S-12 that came with "sleeve's" on all the pull rods and it had very little undercarriage noise.

My Zum came with a block of sliced foam through the rods which seems to dampen down the rod clatter very nicely, placed about the middle of the guitar, or slightly towards the changer end.

Now I did the same thing to my MCI. It doesn't appear to affect the tone and sustain, and as far as undercarriage noise is concerned you might say that I've changed my Yugo to a Merc. I'm happy!
