George,
There's a live vid on YouTube of them doing this tune . Don't know who the steel player is but he plays the solo almost note for note. You can easily see he's playing very basic pockets. There's nothing particularly hard, just very tasty and very well executed (on both versions).

The live video is from the TNN show " Nashville Now" and the steel player was Joe Rogers...very good player.

Very cool move over the five chord during the second half of the solo. He staying at the third fret using strings one and two and lowering 2 a whole step and using the fifth string as the root. Same notes as if you went to the fifth fret with A & B pedals, raising the first string A half a tone, different sounding, less movement.
