Does anybody know how many full blown Universal 12-strings left the factory? Approximately
Not 12-strings in general, but ones that were originally set up as universals.... _________________ Olli Haavisto

Hey Olli
I've never seen a factory uni, but I'd imagine there are some out there.
Bobby Bowman told me that setting up a 12-string universal on a PP was his most challenging job. But he was very particular about setting up PPs. He didn't say whether it was a Bb6 Uni or an E9/B6 Uni that was more difficult.
I'd ask Mike Cass or Lynn Stafford which of those would be their favorite setup. _________________ My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Very few that had seven or eight pedals if any. |

Herb - When you sold my Emmons E9/B6 U-12 for me, where did it go? The Netherlands?

Hi Herb,
Yes, these setups are very challenging, to say the least! I just recently finished converting a ST-12 Ext. E9 3x4 PP to a U-12 7x5 setup for a customer in Seattle. No less than six half-stop tuners were required, along with a lot of patience! Owners of these very complex guitars need to have a very clear understanding of how to tune everything.

I had a full set up U12 rosewood PP that I bought used and then had Bobby Bowman put my set up on. It sounded and played great. It had the legrande type pedals. _________________ Bob |

This one had been set up by Bowman, too.
I believe it is a '79 or '80, Legrande pedals.
Btw what were the original tuning keys on this era push pulls?
This one has aftermarket Schallers which seem to work great... _________________ Olli Haavisto

I know that my black double body is still in Brooklyn. I was never able to ascertain if it was a legit ST-12 or a stripped D-12. It was configured like Larry Bell's lean/mean Uni with only 6 pedals. Mid 70's guitar. I regret selling it but it's getting played more than I would be playing it so I'm glad of that. |

I remember seeing Cowboy Eddie Long playing an Emmons single neck with Hank Williams Jr. back in the early 80's. I'm thinking that it was probably a Universal. Push-pull? I didn't know enough to ask at the time. _________________ GFI Ultra D-10 keyless
