Wade Pence has passed

Post by Jacquelyn Luongo »

Wade died Tuesday afternoon 14 Feb 2017. The funeral was on Saturday. The Funeral Home is Forest Ridge Funeral Home, Hurst, Texas.

Here's what friend and fellow steeler Ivan Reddington has to say upon Wade's passing:

Wade was a basic part of getting the lap steel room started at the Texas Steel Guitar Conventions.

Wade played both steel guitar and pedal steel. He also played a Dobro in his Church Band. I met Wade in Hawaii during a HSGA convention and we discovered that we both worked for American Airlines. It made a long friendship for us and I visited his home regularly during my training at the GSW airport.

I'm sorry to hear of Wade's passing. I first met him at the Texas show, in about '86.

He came to the last place I played, while living in Texas.

My condolences to his family.

My wife and I met Wade and Shirley in Winchester, Indiana at the Aloha International Steel Guitar Club annual convention around 1986. For many years Wade and Shirley attended this convention and we were able to grow our friendship.

We attended the same Christian church denomination and had many things in common to converse about.

He will be missed, but he has inherited a better place.

Aloha my friend.

Rest in Peace

Wade was one of us that started the Non Pedal Room at the TSGA - he always Hand Made a cool poster with the players names.

My condolences to the Pence family. Wade loved the non-pedal steel guitar and was a friend to the steel guitar community.

My condolences to the family. Wade and I had been friends since he made a journey out to West Texas to purchase a Rickenbacher guitar from me many years back. I always enjoyed catching up with him at the Dallas show. RIP Wade.

Really sad to hear this, I've known Wade since the Winchester days of IHSG. What a great guy. He'll be missed.

Sad to here about this. I knew Wade fairly well from several years ago. Very very fine Hawaiian style player. Very nice guy. Encouraging and always a friend to everyone.
