Anyone Here Know Tom Pettingill?

Post by Paul Malta »

Hey fellow steelers...

Tom's working on a build for me but I haven't been able to reach him in days.

He's usually very responsive but I've received no reply from my emails, v-mails, texts, or the PM I sent him on this forum.

I searched his posts and see he was very active on this forum until late December, which is when I last communicated with him.

I hope he's ok... so reaching out if anyone here might know anything because he's simply kind of vanished... which seems unlike him, in my past dealings with him.

Thanks,

Paul

Yes, I know Tom and he is an upstanding member and very reputable builder. Just noticed he hasn'tbeen active on FB, either, and while I'm sure there is a good reason for it, I hope he is OK.

Paul - Tom has created three lap steels for me and is an outstanding guy. He is usually fairly available, but we all have our "away" time. I do need to chat with him and will give him a ring. I'll let you know if I make contact.

I have 4 Pettingills and Tom is about as dependable a guy as you'll ever find. Never had a problem with contacting him for the past 7 years.

So, Tom not responding is highly unusual. Could be that he's on vacation. Hopefully, it's nothing health-related, as that could surely keep him off the Forum depending on the severity of his condition.

I last PM'd with Tom in mid-January.

Thank you all for your responses.

Tom apparently has a great reputation here, does fantastic work from what I've seen (and heard on videos)... which is why I asked him to build one for me.

I'll sit tight... hopefully he's ok and just chillin somewhere nice.

Thanks again...

I posted in the Gone Home section. Tom passed away in January. I'm sorry to have to be the bearer of this news.
OK...I'm gonna try and tune this thing...again!

OMG.....I'm just sick over this news. I last messaged Tom on Jan 03. He had the flu and he was telling me about some new projects (steels) he had in the works.

I may say more later on.

Just too upset at the moment.

RIP brother.

That's terrible news! We all appreciated his contributions to the forum and to the world of steel guitars.

I'm going to close this topic and suggest you post your remembrances, condolences, etc. to the Gone Home discussion.
