My latest

I took forever to finish these but finally got em done about 6 mos. ago. Two beautiful and gorgeous sounding pickups from Rick. They are both curly Koa from a board I had sitting in my shop for about 20 years. The one with the plumeria fret markers is Patti Maxine's. We had Hawaiiana painter, Louanne Korver decorate the audience facing edge and the fretboard. Bloodwood fretboard with inlaid curly maple and wenge frets with koa binding. CruzTone hardware, sockets and 3 legs.

I'm finally retiring from my cabinet business this June. I hope to be making more steels but I'm sticking to one offs. :D

Colin, Nice talking to you the other day and nice steels too. Next time you are in Hawaii I'm going to bug you to give me some tips on machining and polishing metal. I'd like to make my own bridges, even though the electric guitar bridges I have been using work just fine. Here is a new one I just strung up to take to the lap steel building class I'm teaching next week on Kauai.

My cheat for this metal work was to design it in CAD and take it to a shop with a CNC mill. :)
