Amps

Post by Rod Arii »

Want to get newer amp, thinking deluxe reverb or Nashville 112. Like the sound of tube amps using a '57 Tremolux now, want to retire Fender. And I'm getting weaker, so want a lighter amp. Any suggestion>

Milkman half and half is light and won't be much of a compromise with tone. Maybe an improvement.

Or a Sarno V8 into some sort of powered speaker.

Other than that tubes are heavy...

If you like the sound of your old Fender then you will most likely not like most pedalsteel amps that are not tube. No sag or complex harmonic content. Amps made for steel tend to sound strident, brittle, sterile and harsh to guys that have the sound of old Fender tubes in there ear.

Maybe the new Dr Z Cure pair of 6V6 tubes.

Or the new Dr Z M12 ultra light for us older folks.

So many amps out there to choose from.

Here's one I'd really like to try. It's a bit pricey, but I bet it would sound good.

I just bought a new Evans with a 15 inch speaker. I love it.
