Unlike every other brand of string, RotoSound "Country" Strings (made in England)have a so-called "piano string" design with pure, unwrapped wire going over the bridge on the wound strings. I read somewhere that David Lindley used these on his guitars and tried them a few years ago on my standard guitar. They're very bright with noticably long sustain. I just wondered if anyone's tried on their lap steel. Here's a link to RotoSound's site: http://www.rotosound.com/default1.html

I haven't tried them myself, but when I met David Lindley a few years back he had a little suitcase filled with various strings from all sorts of manufacturers. He was restringing one of his Canopus Weissenborn guitars with strings by John Pearse, but he had everything from Ernie Ball to Rotosound in his arsenal.

In the AG magazine article Lindley said he even has his own small string winder at his house for doing custom stuff.
