Very cool, Doug - sounds great!
I've been working on this version of "Teach Your Children" by Martin Gross - he gives that 2nd string a good tug (he's got it tuned down a full tone from std dobro tuning): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vC-N4zl1QZo

Good work and nice country sound Doug.
I note you're using the mid finger with the ring finger
as a helper on those 1st string pulls?? Gauge 014 for the top string (D) maybe?? That's another helper.
I like the little Gibson too!

Wow....just great playing. I find it amazing how you just try new tunings and sound like you've been playing in them for years. |

Thanks, Stephan. I spent a couple of hours playing the tuning before making the video. With any new tuning, I explore the intervals of the open strings, the root, 2nd, 3rd, 5th, etc. and learn the chord positions. I also search for convenient licks and patterns within the tuning. Practicing to a band-in-a-box track is extremely helpful because you can hear what licks work over what chords. A lot of this is playing by ear and hearing what works and what doesn't. I recorded about five takes of the video and kept the best one. You don't want to see the other ones! _________________ My Site / My YouTube Channel
