Last of the Breed

Post by Harold Dye »

Last nite on PBS was a fund raising event called Last of the Breed. It was Ray Price, Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard and Asleep at the Wheel. Except for the intro songs by Ray Price, the Wheel was the house band. The steel player did a fantastic job on Route 66 on the non pedal steel and later moved to a red Sho~Bud for the rest of the show. If it is like all the others it will re aire again later. This was followed by the Highwaymen again.

This is a great show! I didn't know Eddie Rivers played pedal steel also. And the great Mike Cass with Ray Price.

Full-length version (2 hrs plus some great interviews) is available on DVD and the two-disc CD has more music than the DVD. I found them on Amazon several years ago.
We watch and support public TV, but they do a lot of cutting when they''re in fundraising mode.
