Dan Bentley Split Cases

Post by Michael Remming »

I know these have been posted before but I just wanted to show the cases I got from Dan. My MSA D10 Classic XL weighed 86lbs in the stock case. The stock MSA case weighed 26lbs. These cases weight less than 12lbs combined. The case fits perfect and the pedal bar case even has extra room for cables, volume pedal, etc. I opted for the optional velvet lining and I'm glad I did. Dan's a great person to deal with and he can be contacted at 615-268-6614.

Dan's Cases...

Post by Scott Truax »

Just wanted to chime in about Dan's split cases, too.

I also opted for the velvet interior. Soft, plush
and a perfect, snug fit for my guitar.

Danny does great work and is good guy to work with.

Thanks Dan....

I have two of Danny's amp cases, and his work is top-notch. Even though I have guitar cases out the wazoo already, I may invest in a fiber case set in the upcoming year.
My rig: Infinity and Telonics.

Son, we live in a world with walls, and those walls have to be guarded by men with steel guitars. Who's gonna do it? You? You, Lt. Weinberg?

Let me jump on. I love my fiber case. It's light and I don't have to be careful like I did when I had a tooled Thomas case. It used to belong to Tommy Butler. It has a million miles on it. It's got some good scuffs and wear on it. Gives it character. You can't hurt it; Tommy's tried!

I bought a set of these cases from Dan about a year ago. They are holding up well, and I think they protect the body of the steel better than the factory case. And of course, it's a lot easier to lift into and out of a car, or tote up a flight of stairs. Plus, Dan's price was very reasonable.

I have been shopping for a PSG case for months that I could afford and lift and now Dan is going to build one for me. I'm Very Excited! Thanks for posting this information, the pictures of the cases and his phone number.

Got a set a few months back for an Emmons D-10. Plush lining w/ removable insert so I can haul either a D-10 Le Grande or P/P. It is so light that the D-10 body/case weighs about the same as a S-10 in a trad case.

For me this is a "game changer". I was trying to get comfortable w/ a S-12 Uni (for its lighter weight), but the old D-10 brain programming was just too strong. I could never get comfortable w/ it.

Plan B = ultralight cases........Now I have the best of both worlds: light weight + D-10.

I think Steve makes cases that are very close to the ones Danny built. I think these cases are the most protective that you will find, much better than split "hard shell" cases. The kicker is that they are much lighter than other "split" cases.
Conventional hard shell cases don't have any foam cushioning and transfer bumps/shocks to the guitar much more than fiber built cases with foam padding, like Danny and Steve's, cases.
If I had to throw my push pull down a flight of stairs, I would put it in my Danny Bentley case.

That's a good reply Cartwright, I have sent Steve a message on his site, that seems to be the rated case these days, after all, my back is delicate so I shall still be using a 2 wheeled cart. Thank you all -and Merry Christmas old pals!

How reliable for air transit? I love the idea and always wondered why the drum case technology couldn't be applied to instrument cases. I think the early flight cases were made of fiber.

I use my brand x case for fly dates with no problems. I put my S10 67 Emmons in it pedal bar, legs and all. The weight is way under 50 lbs.

Dragged it around France and just got back from NYC.

Works fine.
