My country band, Crying Time will be playing Saturday, December 10th at the Fireside Lounge in Alameda, 1453 Webster Street from 9pm-12. Myles Boisen will be on the lap steel, Tony Marcus on fiddle. The Nervous Pinatas (aka Gryphon Guitars houseband) will be opening, and they have a fine steel player as well, Paul Jacobs. It's free, no cover.
We recently came out with our second album entitled Linda. It features some great pedal steel playing by Bobby Black.
You can stream the album for free on our website, which is www.cryingtime.band
Bobby does a brilliant job on our originals like Beginning Of The End Of Forever, and check out his innovative style on our covers of Gordon Lightfoot's If You Could Read My Mindand the Bee Gee's To Love Somebody.
Here's a little bit about us: Crying Time plays songs from the golden eras of country music. From a Bob Wills shuffle to a Glen Campbell radio hit, every song Crying Time performs becomes their own. Mix that up with Jill Rogers’ made-for-1974-radio originals and you have one of the most exciting Country and Americana bands in Northern California today.
Jill is a singer’s singer with honky-tonk phrasing and torch ballad pipes. She never fails to make an emotional connection with an audience, turning each song into a story. Guitarist Myles Boisen, a key player in the Bay Area music scene, is a virtuoso of juke joint licks on the six string and lap steel, leading the band through tightly-rehearsed arrangements that get audiences dancing and musicians angling their necks to see the stage. Tim Rowe and Peter Garellick keep the rhythm swinging. Jill and Peter are siblings and sing the kind of harmonies that can only come from long car rides on family vacations.
Hope you guys enjoy the music!
