I wanted to see if anyone had any information on this steel. It was purchased from a man here in nashville who bought out one of Bobbe Seymour's storage units. I believe its a 1948 or 1949. The walnut is absolutely immaculate which makes me believe it was restored at some point. But it might just be that nice. It didn't have the original case, but instead a generic one. Seems to me like somebody really cared for this thing. Any thoughts if it looks all original? or anybody know the story behind it? thanks for your time.

Re- or de-finished, I'd guess. I think there would have been a lacquer finish originally. Rubber feet were added. Early DPs like this one didn't have leg sockets, although I think they were textured on the underside. (My boxcar-pickup DP is in storage, so I can't check it.) There probably aren't any pencil marks (date, worker's initials) on this early a steel.

It's not worth anything, send it to me and I'll handle the disposal...
Nah, just enjoy it. It's pretty.

Hey Jeff, fancy meeting you on here (we talked via craigslist earlier this evening)
I figured I would link you to a thread of mine from a few years ago when I was learning about my Dual Professional. There were a few nice responses and nuggets of wisdom from several people, including the late, great Rick Alexander: http://bb.steelguitarforum.com/viewtopi ... highlight=
Regards,
Justin
