SOLD: Richard DeNeve 8-string resonator
Hello fellow steelers,
I am selling (from out of Germany, but never mind...) a Richard De Neve 8-string resonator guitar (mesquite wood, black Gotoh tuners), unknown vintage but certainly before 2009 (that's when I bought it used). I am letting her go because I need to thin the herd.
Before putting it up on Reverb I'd like to try here. All photos are available in higher resolution on request.
It is currently tuned to a G6 variant (low to high: D G B D E G B D). It is generally in very good shape except for one flaw which I consider mainly cosmetic (details below).
It comes with a custom case which has acquired a few scuff marks but is structurally in perfect shape:
There is a passive biscuit pickup installed (make unknown, but sounds decent enough to my ears):
Now here's a couple more detail shots:
Right, now that you've made it this far and I've got you all riled up about that flaw: The nut has a small crack that has been repaired by the previous owner, with no apparent ill effect on stability or sound. Then again, it should be easy for a luthier to replace the nut. Never got around to having it looked at myself, but since it never really bothered me.... Anyway that's the reason why I'm letting her go at what I think is a bargain price.
I am also throwing in a brand new Walworth capo (a 50 bucks value) which, surprisingly, is wide enough to accommodate all eight strings!
Asking price, including DHL shipping charges to the lower 48 or Canada: 800$ paypal.
Any questions, talk to me. Thanks for your time!

On the pictures of the backside of the guitar.... can you explain in more detail what the pictures are showing? Maybe it's an optical illusion but I think I see lacquer delamination, and a ridge in the middle that is worn from use? The pics don't seem to confirm each other though.

Here's an acoustic sound clip (recorded with a Neumann microphone positioned at approx 25 cm (1 ft) above, between the hub cap and the drink holders):

Also, I have been asked questions about string spacing. Here's my reply:
Total span at bridge: 66.2 mm (2.6 in, a tad less than 2 5/8 )
Total span at nut: 57.5 mm (2.264 in, a tad more than 2 1/4)
You divide the above numbers by 7 to get the distance between strings.
