In case you haven't heard this, it is From Buck Owens On the Bandstand LP circa 1963. Jay is playing a Fender 1000 with the great Don Rich contributing as well on fiddle. This is one of the best instrumentals of all time, imo. Jay plays with such emotion that builds throughout the recording. Don't know if Jay is still living.

This is Jay copying Ralph Mooney's recording of the same song. Moon's single had Release Me on one side and Moonshine on the other. |

So this is where guitar players got the "volume pedal swell". Now it all makes sense. _________________ '70 D10 Black fatback Emmons PP, Hilton VP, BJS bars, Boss GE-7 for Dobro effect, Zoom MS50G, Stereo Steel amp, Telonics 15” speaker.

Richard.. I might be wrong but I don't think Mooney recorded Release Me. Mooney recorded Moonshine in 1967 along with James Burton in the Capitol LP Corn Pickin and Slick Slidin Don't see Release Me listed in there. Jay recorded Release Me in 1963. |
