Jeff & Fran

Post by Tommy Alexander »

I have known Jeff for many years; we lived about eight miles apart. We had the same music teacher.
So, we were friends for a long time, until he moved to Nashville, but did talk every now and then.
Later, I met Fran and when Jeff came to visit with his Dad in Texas city , TX., we would hang out for a day or two.
When Jeff died; we still talked with Fran by phone and a few times, she came to the Dallas convention.

This is a sad day that this happened. A very nice sweet person; we will miss her.
I lost her daughter; I believe she lived in North Carolina, I think!

They now will rest in peace...........

So sorry to hear of Fran's passing. My sympathy's to the family.

I always enjoyed our conversations when she would come to Phoenix with Jeff for his spring seminars here. She was a sweet lady who was a really fun to talk with.

Best Regards,
Sam

Billy and I are saddened to hear of the passing of Fran Newman this morning. She and Jeff were wonderful friends to us personally and two of the greatest friends and supporters of the pedal steel guitar community. We pray that her family will have the peace and comfort of knowing that she has been reunited with the husband she loved so much. We will miss you, Fran!

Jeff and Fran were like surrogate parents to My Wife and I for nearly 10 years.

Fran helped me and Chuck Lettes get the Non Pedal Sessions Started in Dallas in 2004 - (Rick Alexander 2011 forward)

Hate to hear this news. Still hard to believe Jeff is gone. Condolences and Prayers to the Newman family. Was wondering if any of the family is carrying on Jeffran music products?

Such a loss. She was always such a pleasure to be around. I loved visiting with her in St. Louis years ago.
RIP Fran, now you can be with Jeff and so many of your old friends.

I enjoyed visiting with Fran a couple of times around the sound booth at Scotty's. Seemingly full of life and vigor, Fran always made me smile. Rest in peace, sweet lady....

What horrible news. Fran was one of the sweetest women I ever met. At a Buddy Emmons / Jeff Newman "concert", I had my 2 or 3 year old daughter with me. She and Peggy Emmons would let her come and hang out in their booths and play with her. I will never forget that.

RIP Fran.

Jeff and Fran both always made me feel so much like family. Fran was always an equal half of a team of her and Jeff. The two of them were so close and I had so much respect for them. I'm so sorry to hear this as others and she will definitely be in my thoughts for days to come.
