Phone call

Post by Harold Dye »

Today I received a robo call saying the license for windows was expiring and left an 800 number to call. I have a laptop with Win 7 that is about 8yrs. old. I have never heard of having to renew a license when it was on the computer when I bought it. Has anyone received similar calls? I did not call nor do I intend to call. This seems like a scam to me.

It is a scam.

If you want a few cheap laughs, you might play stupid for a while just to see how much time you can get them to waste on you before they give up.

Microsoft isn't going to call you. Windows licenses don't "expire".

Yeah, I'd ignore it. As Mitch said, MS doesn't do business that way.

Yet. I'm still waiting to see what MS decides to do next - Win10 is the first time they gave away a new OS version. Speculation on the net is rampant about the prospect of going "subscription", like other vendors have, Adobe being one notable.
