Sam, about the Henriksen Bud; are you playing steel through this amp? If so, given Henriksen's philosophy on instrument amplification, how does your steel sound through it compared with a conventional amp?
Keep on pickin'!

MSA Classic S10 3x4 . In Storage
MSA Vintage XL S12U 7x5. Road axe
'74 SHO BUD D10 roundfront.
'02 Fessy (lacquer) D10 8x8. Living Room Axe.
'82 Emmons P/P S12U 7x4.
Still own them all. Like each one for what it is. MSA is comfortable and easy mechanics. Shobud has a rich C6 vibe and nostalgic draw.. Fessy has vvg tone and sustain + sharp looks. Emmons... visceral vocal midrange and sustaining rich saxophone type lead tone that almost breathes ...and..cannonlike lower strings .
Want to try Jackson, Rittenberry and Derby.

List All the Pedal Steels You Have Wwned
Since about 1963 built one and the others just had to come to my house.
Home Made E9 with 3 pedals
MSA S10 4/3
MSA D10 8/4
GFI S 12 U 7/5
The home made steel is on loan to my cousin.
The 2 MSA's are here to trip over. The GFI S12 is steel I am working with now. Got the E9 now to the B6.

I was shocked when I first read some of these posts. Some of the posters are addicts, and others seem like mercenaries, or pedal steel sickos .... buying every guitar imaginable, deflowering them, and then selling and reselling and reselling, with no loyalty nor attachment to their instruments. I am the kind of guy that has never sold an instrument, when I buy it, its mine for life. But mainly I'm just jealous.

Guess I'm one you talking about Richard, LOL. I've owned close to 50 guitars so I guess you could call me an addict. I love playing and learning about different brands and types of guitars and it is just a hobby with me. As far as being faithful to one brand or model, I have always had an Emmons push pull for my main playing guitar, they are just better suited to me. I've loved every one of my guitars, for different reasons, and wish that I could have kept them all. They are all different in all ways. I've more or less settled down now to my Emmons guitars and have quit buying and selling so much but it has always been fun.Richard Alderson wrote:I was shocked when I first read some of these posts. I have owned nine different steels since 1973, and have kept two. I have two Klines and I am out of the hunt. The first two, a Sho-Bud Maverick, and a MSA Classic S-10, I learned on. Since 1977, I have been a Universal player. When I have owned steel guitars, I have evaluated them on the following criteria:
Sound
Ergonomics and Fit
Portability
Flexibility
Tune-ability
Repairability/Maintenance needs.
Looks
I have enjoyed owing the other steels throughout the years(see earlier post), but they did not meet my needs as well as the Klines. I know those who have not owned or played a Kline, must think I (and Kline owners) are nuts. Until you have sat with one and played it for a day, please hold judgement. I suppose opinions about steel guitars are for another thread and I conclude here.

OK since I play for a living I stay aware of what I've had.
The pathetic thing about it and the one thing no one will tell you is that 99% of your sound is 'attack and technique'.
Anyone who tells you anything different is full of it and needs to be practicing instead of shooting their mouth off. LOL

Oh boy.... I've only been bitten by the bug for ten years, so:
