I think Jim Loessberg might have that one in a lesson format. Not sure what key he would have done it in, but I'm guessing F, which is the standard key for this tune.

Hi Steve,

I tried to teach it the way Charlie Parker wrote it. For some great solos on that tune, I recommend Paul Franklin's "Just Pickin" LP. He plays it in Bb so not all the open string ideas are applicable in the key of F.

My friends Steve and Larry Tolliver have a version on their duet CD which also has great ideas.

Best wishes,

Jim

Thanks Jim, Your Version is great what I meant by basic was that there was no solo after the melody or I didn't find it in the tab if there
where maybe I need to take another look. I've played steel for 30 years but to be honest I am just getting around to digging into what I like to try and learn to play C6th and mainly stuff like the tune we are talking about.
Thanks for your post.

Hi Steve,

If I remember correctly the "Billie's Bounce" course also includes the Parker tune "Now's The Time". Both are fairly simple melodies but with two tunes I didn't have room for a solo.

My CD of "Straight, No Chaser" does include two solos. They are fairly basic ideas based on some Charlie Parker lines. The tune is also in F and the solos are interchangeable in all three tunes.

If you will send me your address I will send you a complimentary copy.

Hope you'll enjoy.
