I echo the sadness, and desolate sense of loss, expressed here. He is irreplaceable to his family and friends, but there is more.
James Morehead occupies a special place in the panoply of steel-guitar enthusiasts. He was a restorer. James understood the art of adding "new-ness".
Because of James, Sho-Bud steel-guitars still sing that would have been forever silent. Because of James, a select number of steel-guitar players are blessed with fine vintage instruments.
Because of James, our little cyber-community was enriched with a priceless talent, freely given by a genuinely gifted person.
RIP James Morehead.

The steel guitar is a hard mistress. She will obsess you, bemuse and bewitch you. She will dash your hopes on what seems to be whim, only to tease you into renewing the relationship once more so she can do it to you all over again...and yet, if you somehow manage to touch her in that certain magic way, she will yield up a sound which has so much soul, raw emotion and heartfelt depth to it that she will pierce you to the very core of your being.

Contact info
I'm very sorry to learn of James passing and enjoyed speaking with him a few times over the past few years. I'd greatly appreciate if anyone here on the forum could help me get in touch with his wife regarding the return of my instrument, since James won't be able to finish it.
