Scotty’s ISGC Marathon Broadcast
While thinking about this year’s Labor Day weekend, I realized there are members of the Scott family, the ISGC staff and our convention friends, who have never known this weekend to be open. We have been struggling to figure out what we are going to do. Some are planning a fishing/camping trip and some are planning a BBQ. I’ve been talking with my mom and we are planning a small party that we have named ... The “No Convention†Party.
So, over the holiday weekend, I will broadcast some past convention performances on SteelRadio.com. I’m looking to play some of the players from the thrilling days of the ISGC in its “Hey Dayâ€. Following the spirit of the original schedule, I’ll air players from the Thursday Talent Search followed by some of the HOF fundraisers. Then some from the Friday, Saturday and Sunday performances. As I remember, some of our conventions would run VERY late. A three day, thirty six hour, musical weekend would run upwards of forty five hours. That made a hell of a convention! With this in mind, I will run this special marathon September 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th (Labor Day weekend) covering as many players as possible.
After 44 conventions, there are many performances to choose from. Everyone has their favorite player and the year they played. Memories are sparked by this music we love but not everyone was in a position to record the performances. (the audience being allowed to record was one of the things about the ISGC that made it very special) I don’t know who will be aired as yet. But rest assured it will be the best in the world.
I hope you will be able to take some time to tune in and hear segments from the greatest steel guitar convention ever produced ... Scotty’s International Steel Guitar Convention!

The Playlist
We are not that far from Scotty’s International Steel Guitar Convention Labor Day weekend marathon. I’ve been working on the playlist for some time now and have the lineup. There are 40 tracks in my playlist and the average track length is 38:20. The total length of all 40 is over 25 hours. The list below is in alphabetical order and will be randomize before broadcast. It will be repeated over the five day weekend (Sep. 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th). So there will be plenty of chances to hear anyone you missed or listen to their performance again.

Michael, thank you SO MUCH!!! Just listened to Jimmy Day's performance again. I'm crying, so awesome = love!! Enjoyed so much of what you presented, I'll just mention Jerry Byrd, ...of course the Big E, but SO many more greats and great performances, if I started a list, it would be EVERYBODY. Thank you for putting this together! Let's put a convention together for next year in St. Louis! We all need to be together creating this. We will help.
