I've been a huge fan of Pauls for a long time. His work onDire Straits "On the Night" is a stand alone piece for pedal steel, IMHO. To reach such a large audience outside the "country realm, was incredible. Of course his Walk of Life solo is one of the best ever! But on songs like YourLatest Trick" where he just kills through all those changes is awesome. And on Brothers In Arms another one where he just blows me away. And not to shabby on Allan Jackson's I Didn't Know Her Name. Soloing on both necks.
I too favor the amazing solo Paul delivered on Vince Gill's "Whenever I Call Your Name" with Sting on CMT Crossroads. The camera cuts away to Vince and Sting shaking their heads in admiration. So good; dang.
